Helping children build the skills they need to feel confident and able to take part in everyday life

At Building Blocks Therapy, we provide individualised paediatric occupational therapy and specialist support for children and young people. We work with families, schools and other professionals to understand what might be making everyday activities more difficult and find practical ways to help.

We’re a team of mobile therapists, bringing therapy into the environments where children live, learn and play. Rather than expecting a child to change to fit their environment, we work with them and the people around them to develop practical strategies and adaptations that make everyday life more accessible and manageable.

Helping children build their blocks

Every child is different, and sometimes the things that look simple to us can feel much harder for a child.

Our occupational therapy is tailored around your child’s individual needs, strengths and goals. We look at the whole picture (not just one particular difficulty) to understand how they are managing at home, at school and in everyday life. By seeing the child function in the environment in which we are seeking to support them.

Our aim is to give children the tools, strategies and confidence they need to take part in the things that matter to them.

We can support children with areas including:

  • Sensory processing and regulation
  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Handwriting and school-based skills
  • Coordination and movement
  • Self-care and independence
  • Visual motor skills
  • Assistive technology
  • Emotional regulation
  • Developmental and neurological differences

What can we help with?

Who do we support?

We support children and young people with a wide range of developmental, sensory, physical and neurological needs.

This may include children who experience:

  • Sensory processing differences
  • Difficulties with coordination or motor skills
  • Handwriting difficulties
  • Challenges with self-care and independence
  • Difficulties managing everyday routines
  • Differences in emotional regulation
  • Developmental or neurological conditions
  • Autism or suspected autism
  • Difficulties accessing learning or participating at school

Every child is different, so we start with the individual rather than simply focusing on a diagnosis.
